FAQ

Estun Frequently Asked Questions

Focusing on the selection, maintenance, spare parts, and second-hand distribution of Estun equipment, we answered the most frequently asked questions from customers.

How to recover a lost Estun robot at zero? Is the operation the same as imported brands?

The physics of zero point recovery is similar to imported brands: rotate each axis to the mechanical zero scale position, then write the zero value in the system. The difference lies in the operation menus and tool software—Estun uses its own controller and commissioning software, which is completely different from FANUC's MASTER/CAL and ABB calibration processes. For beginners who haven't tried it for the first time, it's easy to find the entry point. Whether you lose the zero point during a power outage depends on the encoder type and battery status of the specific model; it cannot be generalized.

How to choose between Estun, FANUC, or KUKA? Can domestic production make it onto automotive production lines?

For automotive welding and final assembly lines, which require continuous operation for many years, imported brands remain mainstream, and this is something that should not be avoided. Estun's heavy-load models like the iER220-3100 and iER350-3300 have already been widely installed in automotive parts, lithium batteries, photovoltaics, and metal processing fields, fully meeting general handling, palletizing, loading/unloading, and stamping wiring. What really matters is the beat, repeatability, and downtime losses—if the downtime is high for one hour, imports are more secure; for mild operating conditions and prioritizing procurement costs and local response, Eston is more cost-effective.

What controllers and servos does Estun Robotics use? Are the parts easy to find?

Estun's servo systems, controllers, and gearboxes are all self-developed. The iER series is powered by AC servo motors, and there is also a iER.Cloud platform for equipment monitoring and data management. The advantage of self-developed products is that the supply chain is not restricted by overseas markets, and domestic channels for general servos are relatively smooth; The challenge lies in the dedicated reducer and casting structural parts of the robot body, which are not as easily ordered as general parts. We are not an authorized agent of Estun, but a third-party technical service provider. The service center is in Nanchong, covering Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan, and Guizhou; Guangzhou Henghuan Technology Co., Ltd. provides business and technical support.

What dedicated models does Estun have? How to choose stamping and bending robots?

Specialized models are one of Estun's distinctive features. For stamping, iER15-1520-PR and iER150-3200-PR are used for stamping, compatible with 16T-2000T presses to enhance the structure's resistance to workshop vibration. Bending uses iER45-2200-BD, iER80B-2565-BD, iER130-2865-BD, with bending process software packages for tool movement. Palletizing includes iER60-2000-PL, iER120-2400-PL, and iER500-3200-PL. The prerequisite is that the process is stable, with a dedicated line machine that changes every three days.

Do Estun second-hand robots have a high resale value? Are used robots selling well?

Currently, the residual value of Estun's used robots is still lower than that of FANUC, ABB, and KUKA, mainly because domestic robots have been on the market for a shorter time and the pool of second-hand buyers is small. This is actually good news for buyers: general-purpose six-axis models like the iER20B-1760 and iER30B-2700 from three or four years are priced much lower than imported models of the same specification. We purchase second-hand gear and inspect gear reducer gaps, servo encoders, body seals, and cable aging item by item, attaching inspection records. It should be noted that the second-hand circulation of specialized machines for stamping and bending is much narrower than that of general models.

What are the common faults of Estun robots? Can older models still be repaired?

Common faults are concentrated in several areas: after long-term high-speed operation, the reducer clearance increases and positioning accuracy decreases; Servo driver fan and capacitor aging report overcurrent and overvoltage; MINI models like iER-MI experience seal aging in dusty environments in 3C workshops; The drag-and-pull teaching force sensor drifts of collaborative models S-Eco and S-Pro. Whether older models can be repaired mainly depends on whether the controller and servo driver are still in production and if there are replacement parts—the iER series in production isn't a big problem, but for very early products, you need to check parts first before discussing solutions.

What are the differences between the Estun S-Eco and S-Pro collaborative robots?

Both series have loads ranging from 3 to 20kg, with models S3-60, S5-90, S10-140, and S20-180 corresponding one-to-one, all supporting drag-and-drop teaching and collaborative deployment. The Pro offers higher safety features and force control performance, suitable for close interaction with people and processes requiring precise force control; Eco features are streamlined, making tasks like fixed pick-up, loading, and loading more cost-effective. A reminder: being able to collaborate does not mean risk assessment is absent. When installing hazards like cutting tools or welding guns at the end, risk assessments usually fail and protective measures are still necessary.
