PART 01

Industrialization History

Wushan is the last stop of the Yangtze as it flows through Chongqing and a typical mountainous reservoir-area county; industry started late on a thin base. Park construction is the main lever. In January 2006, the Chongqing Wushan Industrial Park was approved by the municipal leading group for specialty industrial park planning and construction, with a planned area of 5 square kilometers and an initial 1.7 square kilometers launched. In June 2007 the vocational education park broke ground; by October 2009, 124,600 square meters of standard factory space and 34,900 square meters of comprehensive support buildings were completed and in use. Construction of the Chuyang park began in June 2010, and in June 2016 an adjustment of the approved area to 361 hectares was applied for. In January 2020 the municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology named the vocational education park the Chongqing (Wushan County) Green Food Industrial Park. In June 2021 the former border trade center was merged wholesale into the industrial park, forming the "one zone, four parks, multiple points" spatial layout, with boundaries preliminarily set at 105.33 hectares. In November 2024 construction began on the Zaoyang park, with total floor area of 662,000 square meters, including 493,000 square meters of standard factory space. Industrially, the county started from labor-intensive food, agricultural product processing, and shoes and apparel; in recent years it has proposed a "three industries, six tracks" eco-industrial cluster: ready-to-eat agricultural product processing and Chinese medicinal materials processing, new energy and new materials, and outdoor equipment and the low-altitude economy. In 2024, 127,000 square meters of standard factory space were completed, 3 above-scale industrial enterprises were newly added, and industrial investment grew 55.6% year on year - the fifth-fastest in the municipality.

Current Industrial Development

In 2024, Wushan's industrial value added reached 2.234 billion yuan, up 5.4%, and gross output value of above-scale industry grew 8.2%. By ownership: output value of state-holding enterprises grew 11.6%, joint-stock enterprises 9.5%, foreign- and Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan-invested enterprises 18.5%, and private enterprises 6.6%. By sector: mining output value fell 9.0%, manufacturing grew 7.5%, and electricity, heat, gas and water production and supply grew 12.5%. Key above-scale industrial products for the year: 627 million kWh of electricity (up 44.1%), 1.44 million pairs of shoes (up 38.7%), 2.29 million garments (down 7.7%), and 780,000 cubic meters of commercial concrete (up 25.4%). At park level, a structure led by labor-intensive industries — food and agriculture, footwear and apparel, electronics (combined output value 453 million yuan) — and green building materials (715 million yuan) has taken shape; leading industries account for 60% of the park's output value. The park hosts 47 industrial enterprises, including 14 above-scale industrial enterprises, 27 technology-based enterprises, 4 national high-tech enterprises and 4 specialized and innovative SMEs. The vocational education park hosts 39 enterprises, 31 of them industrial (10 above-scale); in 2024 it delivered industrial output value of 581 million yuan (472 million yuan from above-scale enterprises). Construction value added is nearly twice that of industry (4.209 billion yuan, up 4.2%), and tourism is the primary pillar industry. "Wushan crisp plum" is planted on 300,000 mu, with a brand value exceeding 3.4 billion yuan.

PART 03

Industrial Robot & Automation Applications

Wushan's manufacturing scale is among the smallest in northeastern Chongqing: in 2024 countywide above-scale industrial output value was only in the hundreds of millions of yuan, and the park had just 14 above-scale industrial enterprises. It lacks the industries that generate bulk demand for industrial robots — automobiles, electronics, machinery processing — so robot applications are essentially a blank. Confirmable automation equipment falls into three categories. First, clean energy and power: 2024 electricity generation reached 627 million kWh, up 44.1%; wind, PV and hydropower stations use computer-based supervisory control (SCADA) for remote monitoring, automatic grid connection and power regulation — instrumentation and process automation, not robot bodies. Second, building materials: 780,000 cubic meters of commercial concrete (up 25.4%) are produced by fully automatic mixing plants with batching control systems; the green building materials industry has an output value of 715 million yuan. Third, footwear, apparel and agri-food processing: 1.44 million pairs of shoes (up 38.7%) and 2.29 million garments still rely mainly on standalone cutting, sewing and washing equipment and manual assembly lines. In addition, the vocational education park, operating as the Chongqing (Wushan County) Green Food Industrial Park, processes agricultural products mainly with standalone cleaning, sorting, drying and packaging machines. Note: there is no publicly available authoritative figure for Wushan County's installed industrial robot base, annual new installations, or robot density (units per 10,000 industrial workers) — all three to be verified; no specific cases of six-axis, SCARA, parallel, AGV or collaborative robots in service in the county have been found so far.
